QuestionAnswer
Can I pick up my child at Shawnee?Yes. However, please note that you must do so before 2pm at the lodge. We have a formal “warm hand-off” policy ensuring that members are accounted for at all times. Please refer to the registration packet Special Circumstances section for details.
Who can participate in the Ski Club? All students registered at William Annin Middle School.
How will my child know which bus they’re on?Just prior to the first trip (late December or early January) the bus lists will be posted at school.
I’m looking at the weather and it looks threatening. Where do I find if a trip’s been cancelled? An email will be sent to all registered members. Also, you can visit the Home Page and you'll see a notification. You can also refer to The Registration Packet for details on where to get additional information.
My child is a 6th grader. Must he/she be at the presentation?Yes. This is a Club requirement ensuring that all new members are aware of the safety, policies and trip-day expectations.
My child is a 7th / 8th grader but new to the school, must he/she be at the presentation?Yes. The presentation is for any new member to the club irrespective of grade.
My child is a returning member. Does he/she have to be at registration? No. Parents/Guardians can simply drop-off the registration forms and payment at time of registration.
Where is the lost and Found?See Mr. Amicone
Where can I check to see if a trip has been cancelled? This web site. Check the Announcements section.
Can my child rent equipment at Shawnee? No. Please coordinate season rentals prior to the first trip. We suggest The Sport’s People in Far Hills, Colorado Ski Shops and Pelican Ski Shops.
My child lost their patch/sleeve. Where can I get a replacement?Sleeves and patches are available for purchase the day of the trip. Simply contact the Bus Advisor for a replacement. Sleeves are $4 and patches are $2.
Does my child have to wear a helmet?Although we as Club Advisors strongly encourage, suggest and recommend head protection, we cannot force the use. We ask that parents remind their child prior to each trip to take AND wear their helmet. Head protection is the #1 preventative measure limiting head injury.
Why do I have to also go to Shawnee’s site?Registration occurs at William Annin. The Shawnee process actually confirms your Lift Badge and assures we have all Lift Badges by the start of the season. It’s an essential and easy step.
My child’s equipment looks just like everybody else’s. How can they tell them apart?Great question! We STRONGLY suggest that each ski, board, pole and boot be labeled with your child’s last name. Simple masking tape with permanent marker has worked a charm. Clothing can also be marked on the laundry tag.
When must I drop off my child in the morning.Ideally between 6:30 and 6:45am. Buses roll at exactly 7am and will not stop or wait.
When do buses return?Buses will return to William Annin at approx 5pm. Any child remaining after 5:15-5:30 will be transported to the Bernard’s Township Police Dept.
When and where do I register?See the Registration Welcome Letter and Registration packet linked in the Download section for details.
My child missed a trip - do I get a voucher?Yes. Mr. Amicone will distribute the vouchers every Monday morning in homeroom. See Mr. Amicone if you did not receive a voucher.
